You can vote early

With Election Day coming up on November 4 the City Elections & Voter Services is offering additional voting hours. Thousands of voters in Minneapolis have already cast their ballot in-person or by mail. At the close of Friday, October 17, a total of 7,891 ballots had been accepted.

The Early Vote Center, 980 E. Hennepin Ave., makes early in-person voting more convenient for Minneapolis voters. It’s especially helpful to people who need language support or other special accommodations, such as curbside voting.

This year on the ballot are candidates for Mayor, City Council, Park Board Commissioner, Park Board at-large commissioners, and Board of Estimate and Taxation. Look at the sample ballot ahead of time. Find your sample ballot at vote.minneapolismn.gov/voters/ballot. Print it out and bring it with you to refer to when you go to vote.

State law allows voters to bring materials into the polls to help complete their ballots — and the sample ballot is the single, best tool available for this purpose. By downloading and printing their sample ballots (which are customized to their specific ward and precinct), voters can practice marking their ballots. They can bring their marked-up sample ballot as a reference when completing their official ballots. This is the best way to reduce the time spent waiting in line.
